Design inspiration
The idea of the “Focus” is taken from geometric patterns and visual cues found in nature, traditional architecture, and minimalist artwork. The V-shaped lines delicately converge to the center, creating a dynamic yet orderly space. The design draws the eye to the center, where the hands tell the time.
Material and coating
The body of the “Canon” is made of plywood with a natural wood veneer; a strong, lightweight and durable material that beautifully reveals the natural texture of the wood. The black grooves created on the surface create a deep visual contrast that doubles the beauty of the design. The final surface is coated with natural vegetable oil to both preserve the feel of the wood and protect it from dust and moisture.
Manufacturing method
To create precise and converging lines, the design was first CNC machined onto the body and then hand-finished to smooth the edges and create a uniform overall shape. The use of black paint in the grooves was done with high precision to achieve a prominent and uniform color contrast.
